Matt Sewell is an artist, illustrator and author. We have taken his unique water colour paintings of birds and turned them into embroideries and prints on our organic cotton clothing. The aim of the collection is to shine a spotlight on our endangered birds and get them flourishing again. Matt's illustrations represent some of the 67 species of birds on the UK's endangered red list, which is a shocking one in four of our birds. Our collaboration makes extensive use of the colour red to draw attention to these birds.

Drawn in Matt's unique style, we turn his beautiful bird illustrations into textured embroideries perching proudly on our organic cotton tees, sweats, hoodies and caps. These red list birds have been chosen to highlight the alarming plight of endangered birds in the UK.
organic cotton tees
Our organic cotton tees are a blank canvas for Matt's original bird and nature inspired artwork. One of the reasons for such a dramatic decline in bird numbers is habitat loss. So, the graphics focus on Matt's unique ability to bring out the character and colours of birds and their natural habitats. We make our organic tees in Turkey, where the organic cotton is grown and we use sustainable water based inks to screen print them in Lewes, East Sussex.
merino wool bobble hats
'If a bird were a hat...' was the design starting point of these bobble hats. Inspired by the unique colours from Matt's bird paintings, we take the colours from his watercolours and use them in blocks to create these merino wool bobble hats. They are made in Britain and include several endangered birds species. We think you'll share our love for them.
organic cotton socks
If socks could fly, these would! As you can see from their creative packaging, these socks are inspired by the colours of Matt's watercolour bird paintings. We use an exclusive intarsia knitting technique to create each sock's unique colour pattern. Made in Britain from soft organic cotton, they make wonderful gifts for others or beautiful treats for yourself.

We give Wildcard, a grassroots environmental conservation organisation, 10% of the proceeds from the sales of our Matt Sewell collection.
The largest landowners in the UK are encouraged to rewild by Wildcard, and the organisation also equips individuals with the tools to take action locally.
